Located on a tiny hillside lot measuring on 3,000sf this site presented numerous challenges, but with those challenges came great rewards. The site is very steep and the final design negotiated 32 vertical feet of grade change through the foundation. The site falls off on a diagonal to the building site making the design constraints even more complex to navigate.
The final design solution placed the arrival deck split between the upper and lower levels of the main dwelling. A 440sf secondary suite is located under the living room. This unit is featured in Taunton Press’s best selling book In-laws, Outlaws and Granny Flats; Your Guide to Turning One Home into two.
This home was also featured in a two page spread in the Vancouver Sun which was part of an ongoing feature which highlighted homes architects design for their own families.
