Visitor Center - Tofino

 Tsawaak Visitor Center

JWT is working with the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation in Tofino on the design of a Visitor Center to serve as both a gallery space and as an amenity for the Best Western Tofino Resort and the Band’s Tsawaak RV Resort.

Our concept draws on zoomorphic imagery such as the Halibut and clam and turtle shells.  The design allows the users to make their own references to nature.

Working with Artisan Log Homes the timber frame is being constructed off site and delivered to the site.

This design works as a third place for visitors to Tofino.  It’s both a place to relax as well as a destination.  And the space becomes a showcase venue for First Nations Artists.

We believe it will quickly become a well known architectural landmark in this internationally renowned destination.
