Bowen Island, BC
Built on an almost impossible site perched up over a granite bluff and hemmed in by municipal setbacks, the site for this small yet ambition project is a small triangular piece of land located well below the existing house. The design strategy uses a bridge to connect the two buildings with the occupant’s arriving to a roof top deck with outstanding views towards UBC and over the Queen Charlotte Channel.
The program is simple, a small flexible office space, with a guest wall bed and a small washroom with outdoor shower. Floor to ceiling windows and located to the south, with the office being located down a few steps from the foyer. This allows for the structure to better relate to the grade. A shed roof pops up over the secondary spaces, which the roof deck is located over the office.
