The design of public space differs from architecture in that buildings are private spaces that offer limited access to the occupants of towns and cities. It is the spaces between buildings that create the ‘rooms’ that we as citizens occupy. Our focus as a firm is to focus first on the pedestrian and the public realm. The truest measure of success is the lasting identity of a place. We believe the richest spaces are often intimate in scale and offer a balance between landscape, commerce, culture and human comfort. With these factors in balance true identities are revealed.
